In today’s organizations, the status quo is no longer an option. But making changes without a good sense of the underlying structures or a picture of possible unintended consequences can be a recipe for disaster. Systems thinking offers a powerful approach for facilitating smart and strategic organizational change. In this two-day session, you will learn how to incorporate systems thinking principles and tools to mobilize and focus organizational initiatives. You will also identify where to apply systems thinking for maximum results. And you’ll develop tools for clarifying mental models and competing purposes—key skills for achieving sustainable high performance.
In this workshop you will:

Many of our inherited ideas about leadership do not survive the everyday reality of a changing, multicultural world where customers, colleagues, and direct reports all wish to be seen as individuals with lives, perspectives, and contributions of their own. To be effective in this new context, every person and organization needs a frontier where real conversation is possible. This creative edge is difficult to sustain, but an absolute necessity, both for keeping our organizations strong and for sustaining a vital personal life amid the continual demands. What does effective leadership mean in terms of setting the stage for courageous conversation? How can we stay relevant without always having the last word? How can we provide a strong sense of leadership without coercion or manipulation?
In this workshop, you will:
David Whyte is the author of six books of poetry and
two best-selling prose books, including the recently published The
Three Marriages: Reimaging Work, Self, and Relationship. An Associate
Fellow at Templeton College and Said Business School at the University
of Oxford, he is one of the few poets to take his perspectives on
creativity into the field of organizational development, where he
works with many European, American, and international companies. David
holds a degree in marine zoology. | Back to top...
