Stories
Some teachers are reading "Butterfly" at their school
book clubs, discussing it together, applying the learnings,
and integrating them in their curricula. They report that
the book has helped improve student literacy as well as systems
thinking ability.
After September 11th, Linda received calls from people
asking which stories can help children understand the terrorist
crisis. She points to Dr. Seuss's "The Butter Battle
Book" and "The Sneetches" (for grades 9-11),
which illustrate the dynamic of fear between people. Naming
the fear makes it less frightening for children.
